uses the following criteria when determining a score:

What is a good photograph?

1. It must be interesting to the viewer and sometimes challenging. Some photographs cry for the photographer to answer "how did he do that?".

2. It should have a sharp image and the subject should stand out from the background. This can be accomplished by either "depth of field" focus or color contrast. (A soft focus on a person's face or a flower may still be considered sharp. This may have been the photographer's intention when they made the photo)

3. It should have good color rendition of the subject. This may be natural colors or colors that have been reversed or altered, but they must be complementary to the viewer's eye and to each other.

4. Score each photo you discuss with from 1 to 5, depending upon whether your gut reaction was positive or negative.

At the end of each challenge, report your highest scored photograph (based upon the 'AVERAGE' OF ALL SCORES)

eg;1st observe=2, 2nd observe=3, 3rd observe=4

and the average score is '3'

be brutally honest with each other about the quality (mostly emotive, but technically as well) of their photographs.

Hey AzD40.. how wud u like to be the judge of the next challenge? It would be good bcos there's alot of people who vote for some but leave the others.

Anyways there's no prize or anything, its just good practice for participants to improve their skills in photography and post-editing, expanding one's imagination on a particular subject (topic) and a great way to get other visitors to check the participants' web page.

Also it's a good get-together thing for all the new photographers out there.

One good advice I heard is that criticism can be a good thing.

Thanks AzD40, and hope you'll be judging come next challenge.

Hi AzD40... for once I totally agree with your style of judging a very good photo/s. Sharpness, colours, and composition.

If only I am not one of the challengers, I would be happy to judge the photos.

Hey, do you mind if we invite you to be the judge on our next challenge? Unless you want to join the challenge which then put yourself not eligible to be the judge.

And lastly, thank you for your comment and suggestion. Hopefully this will not be the last time we are seeing your name around this blog.
