The first thing that popped up in my head was crop circles. Too much TV and comic books does that to people sometimes.
This was shot over Saudi Arabia. Also known as 'Cancer of the Earth' these are actually farms. They are circles in shape of the way the irrigation system was built. The water comes out from the center of the field through a pipe that runs some where around 30-40meters from the center of the farm. Rollers or wheels are then stuck at the bottom of the pipes so that they can be rotated around the field.. hence the round farm field..
Pretty boring stuff, huh?
