I guess everyone knows about yesterday's blackout. My place was one of those worst hit. It started yesterday afternoon around 4pm.. down til 4 pm today. It was terrible, with the big match between Manchester and Chelsea on live on starsports and no way to watch it.
Accidents do happen, but what's worst was that we were not able to get hold of the guys working hard at the power station. Well.. I wasn't telling you the whole truth.. I did get hold of them.. eventually.. after around fifty hits on the redial button.
The guy at the other end was helpful and I go to know what happened. That was yesterday. Today, after a sleepless night in the soaring heat, I tried calling them again, just to find out the progress. No luck.. The number was busy, so it asked me if I wanted to talk to the operator, which was not available, then asked me if I wanted to try the extension again.
I can't really blame them. I guess if one gets a low wage, one wouldn't really wanna do their job properly.. and if you don't do your job properly, the country won't progress. So it's kinda like a vicious circle, just keeps rolling over and over again to no end.. no progress.
I was thinking about something else too. Have any of you heard that some people almost never pay their electricity bills? And if the authorities tried to disconnect the power lines, they get upset and end up having a row with them?
I wonder what would happen if they were the ones who didn't have any power yesterday and got hold of the electric company, asked them what took them so long to fix the problem. Would the guy at the other end ask the complainer what took them so long to pay their bills? Hehe!!
